Me & James Playing Prog (sort of)

After writing and producing a song at college, me and James thought we’d showcase the bass and guitar parts. Without drums to keep us in place this was quite the challenge!

At college we started with an idea which was influenced from Japanese pop prog (would be the best way to say it) using clean guitar with creative drum parts and complimentary bass parts. Using bands like Wot Gorilla & Tricot (from earlier posts) we molded our own sort of genre and created a through composed piece, I will post the full song at a later date but as for now just enjoy.

From looking at the piece I need to improve on:

– Listening to the track to play the song by heart

– Getting a better tone = not satisfied with the pedal specs.

Me & James Playing A Riff

From my solo piece there’s a part that my fellow bass player friend was interested in, in drop D (drop the lowest string down a tone) using a clean tone with my telecaster and his cruiser amp. I didn’t want to use my pedal on this due to the delay interfering with the amount of notes being played, the beginning is a taste of how many time we tried to get a final take.

The problem is because the riff is such an endurance on your fingers you have to stretch and warm up before you get a standard take. The song features different time signatures such as 7/8 and 10/8 using A major changing scale into F major too.

Things to improve on after watching this video:

– Note phrasing = make sure the notes are defined.

– Tempo = try not to speed up
